September Meeting. The Fraternity will gather at the Marian Hall, St Matthew's, Page at 8pm, Friday 24 September 1999. The Formation discussion will be led by Pam Ledbrook. Please bring a plate, preferably with something on it to eat.
Please also come prepared to contribute something to the Fraternity funds which currently stand at only $87.98. Regional and National levies have been paid on behalf of one or two members who don't appear to have paid their share. These levies are $30 per professed member. Some members may have difficulty in finding that much so please give generously to the secret collection.
Transitus. The Third Order of the Society of St Francis (Anglican) has invited us to join with them in the ceremony of the Transitus of St. Francis of Assisi on Sunday 3 October 1999 at All Saints Church , Cowper St., Ainslie, starting at 2.30pm.
October Meeting. At our meeting on 22 October 1999 the discussion will be led by Cec Webster on the subject of Indulgences with reference to the recent Papal Bull on that subject.
Day of Reflection Our Day of Reflection will be held on Saturday 11 December 1999 starting at 9am and finishing at 4pm. The venue will be notified later but please put the date in your diary NOW. We will be guided in our reflections by Fr. Carl Schafer, OFM, the National Spiritual Assistant to the Order. Please bring your Breviary and Constitutions and of course your contribution to the shared lunch.
Annual Retreat Our Annual Retreat will be held over the weekend 24-26 March 2000. More details will be given closer to the date.
August meeting At our August meeting, Hélène led us into a discussion on the theme of "God the Father of Love" Members shared experiences of God's love in their lives.
Fraternity Library. As advised in previous newsletters a Fraternity library is being built up. Members are asked to donate/loan books with a Franciscan theme.
Appointments Jack Smith has been forced by serious ill health to submit his resignation as Secretary and as a member of the Fraternity Council. At the August meeting of the Fraternity it was announced that Kevin Martin had generously agreed to fill the vacancy on Council. At the Council meeting on 13 September, Martin was "persuaded" to accept the office of Secretary. (He is slowly recovering from the beating!)
STOP PRESS Jack was discharged from hospital after heart surgery on 14 September 1999. Please - no visitors at least until October.
