October Meeting. The meeting will be at 8pm on Friday 23^rd October at Marian Hall, Stutchbury Street, Page. As previously advised, Hèléne has kindly agreed to lead us in consideration of "Gifts of the Holy Spirit".

Regional Chapter. The NSW/ACT Regional Chapter will be held at Hartzer Park, Bowral on the 2^nd weekend in November. Hèléne, Marty and Pam will attend. The attached papers from the Mosman Fraternity propose that the Chapter instruct the Incoming Minister and Council Executive to initiate a move to replace the current NSW/ACT Regional Fraternity with 2 or 3 new Regional Fraternities. At our October meeting we need to assist our representatives to the Chapter with ideas, proposals or points of view.

Social Function. As decided at the August meeting, a Christmas social function in the form of a barbecue is to be held at 4pm on Saturday 21^st November at Weston Park.

Transitus Celebration. We met beside the swimming pool at Hélène’s. Our guests were:

Thorey and Frances Bonsey and Elizabeth Game of the
Anglican Third Order of the Society of St Francis;

Shirley Johnson sfo from Melbourne;

and Kevin and Tony’s wives.

Using Cec Webster’s text and with Diana as Leader, Hélène as Reader and Tony speaking the part of St Francis, it was a simple but moving ceremony.

Regional Fraternity Meeting. The cancelled meeting was replaced by a Franciscan Family Day at Campbelltown on Sunday 4 October.

Papers circulated. The following papers are circulated to members:

• A proposal by the Sacred Heart Fraternity, Mosman, that the NSW/ACT Region be split into three parts. This proposal needs to be discussed before our representatives attend the Regional Chapter on the second weekend in November.
• Papers by Father Alban Mitchell titled "Secular Franciscans and Vatican II" and "To Have the Spirit of the Lord and His Holy Way of Acting." A third paper "The Rule" was attached to our May issue.
• An updated Address List of Members accompanied the printed version of the ‘Canberra Franciscan’.

National Levy. The National Levy has now been paid based on the number of professed members in the Fraternity. Loui’s records indicate that quite a number have not paid him yet. He will be approaching them to check whether his records are correct.

Prayers. Please remember that we agreed to keep up our prayers for vocations to the SFO! Please pray that the Holy Spirit will be with the novices who are receiving instruction.

Next Council Meeting. 7.30pm Monday November 16.
